For cannabis processors

From one processor to another.

Our founder grew and processed cannabis in Michigan for 15 years before moving to the numbers side. Now we help processors see what every batch really yields, what each product really costs, and where their cash is going.

Sound familiar?

Yield

You don't know your real yield

Input goes in, product comes out, and nobody can say what each batch actually returned.

Cost

Prices are set by gut

Hard to say which SKUs make money once labor, materials and overhead are counted.

Inventory

Inventory doesn't match the books

Input, work in process and finished goods drift away from what the books say they're worth.

5 numbers every processor should know

  1. Yield on every batch, input to finished
  2. Cost per unit by product, all in
  3. Margin by SKU at today's prices
  4. What your inventory is worth, from input to finished goods
  5. Weeks of cash in the bank

Missing one? That's where the money usually leaks.

Fresh frozen or flower?

Run the whole math before you wash.

The wash math makes fresh frozen look easy: this many pounds, this return, this price per gram. But return is only one number. Choosing fresh frozen changes how the plant is grown, how it's stored, and how fast it turns back into cash.

What changes when a room goes to fresh frozen
FlowerFresh frozen
Days in flowerFull runOften harvested earlier for brighter color
HarvestHang or wet trimBucked and frozen right away
Dry and cureDrying room timeNone
StorageCured flowerFreezer space, for material and finished rosin
LaborTrim labor per poundWash and press labor per run
OutputPounds of flowerWash return × press return

Each line is a cost driver. Change the path and the cost per pound changes with it, before a single gram is pressed.

A "5% washer" is a best case, not a forecast

  • What does the strain average across the room, plant to plant and run to run?
  • What should be washed at all? Plants with greasy trichomes won't return well.
  • How much lands in A grade, B grade or food grade, and what does each one sell for?

Rosin is limited by sell-through, not return

Example: 100 lbs of fresh frozen, 6% wash return, 81% press return. That's about 2,204 g of rosin. If your accounts move 150 g a week, that's about 15 weeks of stock. Every gram has to be weighed, sealed, packaged and kept cold before it sells, and the cash stays tied up until it does. Rosin that isn't refrigerated, or ideally frozen, goes stale fast.

That's why we favor just-in-time production: press in runs sized to what actually sells, so every batch is fresh and your cash isn't sitting in a freezer.

What we track: forecast versus actual returns by strain and batch, the grade split, full cost per gram by grade (including the grow path that produced it), weeks of rosin on hand versus your sell rate, and the most you can pay for input and still hit your margin.

Our founder ran his own solventless brand for years and trained privately with Nikka T.

Common questions

Do you work remotely?

Yes. Most of our work runs over video calls, shared files and access to your systems. Site visits are available on request.

What systems do you work with?

QuickBooks Online is our home base, and we've also worked in Salesforce-based accounting systems. We work from your POS, inventory and ERP systems (Dutchie, Flowhub, Treez, Distru, Canix and similar), your state tracking system (Metrc or BioTrack), payroll reports, and Excel or Google Sheets. Larger operators on NetSuite or Xero are welcome too. If you use something else, we'll learn it.

Do you replace my bookkeeper or CPA?

We can work alongside your bookkeeper or take the bookkeeping over, whichever you need. We don't prepare taxes, so your CPA stays in place. If you need a cannabis tax professional, we're happy to make an introduction.

How do engagements work?

Two ways: one-time engagements with a set scope, or ongoing monthly support as your fractional controller or CFO. Most clients start with a one-time $2,500 analysis.

What if my books are behind?

That's common, and it's where a lot of our work starts. We catch up and clean up your books first, so every number after that is one you can trust.

Is my data kept confidential?

Yes. We only access what you choose to share, we never share client data, and anything we publish uses illustrative numbers.
